Maya Le Tissier has extended her contract with Manchester United.

The 22-year-old defender initially joined the club in July 2022 from Brighton and Hove Albion, and has since gone on to make 60 appearances for the Red Devils.

Le Tissier’s prior contract was set to expire in summer, with plenty of clubs outside the WSL sharing their interest in signing the English centre back.

The length of her new contract remains undisclosed.

In a statement given to Manchester United, Le Tissier said: “I’m really happy to sign a contract extension with this great club and look forward to ending the season strong, while continuing to build for the future.”

Le Tissier was a vital player in aiding the success of Manchester United during the 2022/2023 season.

Upon her debut performance with the club, Le Tissier scored her first goal in the fourth minute of the game against Reading, shortly following it up just 20 minutes later.

After an impressive debut, Le Tissier was a firm choice for United, starting every WSL game that followed in the season.

Her contribution to the team led to Manchester United finishing second in the league, and awarded them with a place in the Champions’ League, for the first time in the clubs history.

Le Tissier has also managed to secure three caps for the Senior Lionesses, an impressive feat at the age of 22.
