On 2 August, Arsenal announced the departure of Gio Queiroz for Atlético Madrid.

The 21-year-old Brazillian international joined Arsenal from Barcelona in September 2022 and made her debut for the club in the FA Cup in January 2023.

Gio then spent the rest of the 2022/23 season on loan at Everton where she made 11 appearances and scored one goal.

Arsenal reportedly expected Gio to go on loan for the 2023/24 season, but the summer move never materialized and the winger was subsequently left off of the 25-member Arsenal Women squad and left unable to play for a club.

Head Coach Jonas Eidevall told Arseblog News in November 2023, “It is a situation that doesn’t really benefit any parties, and it’s something we need to address and look again in the winter so we find a solution that benefits both parties. As it stands at the moment, because of the regulations, Gio cannot play any games for us.”

Arsenal then announced in January 2024 that Gio would be joining Liga F side Madrid CFF on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

It was at Madrid CFF that she made her senior debut at the age of 15 back in 2018.

Her successful second spell at the Madrid club included a hattrick against Villareal in the final game of the 2023/24 season.

Following the permanent transfer from parent club Arsenal to Atlético Madrid, Gio Queiroz will be staying put in Liga F for the foreseeable future.
