Lioness Fran Kirby will be swapping one blue shirt for another, signing for Brighton and Hove Albion from Chelsea.
After nine years at Chelsea, Kirby announced her departure from the club in May.
She joins the Seagulls for an undisclosed period but her experience will be vital to a club who often find themselves towards the bottom half of the Women’s Super League table.
Alongside the signings of Marisa Olislagers and Kiko Seike, Brighton has had a busy transfer window after four departures were announced in June.
The 31-year-old has an impressive resumé, with 203 career goals, four WFA Cups, and being a seven-time WSL champion.
Not only this, but Kirby, alongside of the rest of the England Lionesses, was crowned European champion in 2022 and she’s totalled 72 caps for her country.
Managing director Zoe Johnson said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Fran to the club.
“She arrives as one of the most decorated English footballers of all time, playing an integral role in Chelsea’s recent dominance, as well as on the international stage having been a part of England’s EURO 2022 win.
“Her experience on the pitch will be just as important off it and we have no doubt that she will help us take a significant step towards our long-term targets.”
