24 year-old Lioness Ellie Roebuck has joined Barcelona from Manchester City on a two-year contract.

Prior to her move, Roebuck played for City for nine years, both in the academy and in the senior squad.

During her time in Manchester, Roebuck has won one Continental Cup and three FA Cups with her club as well as the Euros with England.

Via an instagram post in March, Roebuck announced that she is presently rehabbing from a left occipital infarct, which has kept her from the pitch for the 2023-24 season.

Barcelona has praised her for her playing style, consisting of notable footwork and bold goalkeeping.

The Liga F side believes that Roebuck will bring a valuable combination of youth and experience to the squad next season.

Regarding her move, Roebuck said:

“I am very excited. I’d been waiting for this chance for a long time. I’m very happy to be here. You could say that now everything fits and this was the perfect time to come.

“I want to test myself and live a new experience. There’s nowhere better to do that than here, so I’m really grateful to get this opportunity.

“I like to play with the ball at my feet and this is the perfect team to do that with. I enjoy possession and playing out from the back, so I hope to contribute my style.”
