Old Trafford is set to host an all-important Manchester derby as both teams aim to qualify and secure their spot for next season’s Champions League.

All eyes are turned on an enthralling end of the WSL season, with European places still up grabs for both Manchester sides.

At the Etihad Stadium in January, the teams entertained the fans with a six-goal thriller in a league matchup, with an Ella Toone hattrick masterclass to secure a 4-2 win for the away side.

Both sides recently met in the Women’s FA Cup semi-final with Manchester United victors at the Joie Stadium and goals from Celin Bizet Ildhusøy and Grace Clinton.

The versatile midfielder continues her good run of form, being incredibly positive in attacking phases for Marc Skinner’s side in attacking phases.

Manchester United’s last game saw them frustratingly lose at home to newly crowned champions Chelsea.

Ahead of the game, the Red Devils manager expressed his optimism: “We know what we can do to every team we play.

“We’ve got to just play our game in the end. We have to make sure that we go above that motivation level if we want to win the game.

“It’s going to be a tough game, we’re in front of our fans at Old Trafford and we’ve got to give everything.”

The away side head to Old Trafford following a tough away day at the King Power Stadium, in which Jess Park neatly scored the only goal of the game to clinch the three points.

Manchester City’s backend of the season has been filled with injury problems, but signs of hope were back, following Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood’s return last week.

The Cityzens have felt the lack of attacking prowess in crucial games this season, without the likes of Vivianne Miedema and Khadija Shaw.

Manager Nick Cushing and his side are motivated to get a result away from home.

He said: “I’ve never planned a game not to win. That’s not what we do at this club. For me, it’s making sure that this is consistently competing for trophies.

“There’s a lot of desire and motivation but we also respect that they’re in form.”
