In a cruel twist of fate, Germany’s talented youngster Lena Oberdorf has torn both her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL).
Lena Oberdorf, one of the most promising young players in women’s football, sustained these injuries during the European qualifiers in a match against Austria.
This is especially unfortunate given that Germany’s next major competition is the Olympics.
Since joining Wolfsburg in 2020, Oberdorf has made a name for herself with 71 appearances and 17 goals. She has firmly cemented her place in the starting eleven of the German national team.
At the beginning of the 2023/2024 season, it was announced that Oberdorf would be moving to direct rival Bayern Munich. However, fans will have to wait longer to see her debut with the club.
With a club like Bayern Munich, known for its excellent medical facilities, Oberdorf will hopefully have a smooth rehabilitation journey.
For now, all fans can do is wait patiently and hope she returns stronger than ever.
She is scheduled to have an operation soon, which will mark the beginning of her long rehabilitation process. Fans worldwide wish the 22-year-old all the best in her recovery.
