Manchester City have announced that English defender Esme Morgan will be leaving the club this summer.

According to City, Morgan’s move remains subject to international clearance and a work permit, implying that the Lioness will be playing abroad next season.

Morgan joined Manchester City at the Under-15s level as a lifelong fan and made her senior debut on the opening day of the 2017/18 season at just 16 years-old.

She signed her first professional contract with the club in 2019 before a successful loan spell at Everton.

During her time at City, the team has won both the FA Cup and the Continental Cup.

Morgan is leaving with 87 appearances across all competitions.

While playing in Manchester, Morgan also received her first senior England national team call-up in September 2020 and finally made her debut in October 2022 following an untimely injury.

The club expressed gratitude for her contributions to the team and wished her well as she embarks on a new chapter.
